"HAMPTON MANOR"
by K. J. Janssen

Hampton Manor is a multi-genre novel about three generations of the Hampton family.

In this family saga, Adam Hampton builds up a clothing manufacturing company from scratch. In his sixties, he commits suicide and his son takes over the business.

The destinies of five townspeople in the quiet community of Old Brooking, Connecticut are transformed as they converge with the Hampton family:

The interplay between Adam Hampton III and the townspeople provides a fast moving drama as each of the main characters vies for position. All have good reasons to hate the Hamptons, with one of the five hiring an Assassin to kill Adam III and his father and burn Hampton Manor to the ground.

Hampton Manor is peopled with flawed, but well-meaning characters. Emotionally suspenseful and compelling.

Flood Plains, directed by Michael Leo, is
an avant-garde film that uncovers the
emotional under-tones experienced by
Brisbane residents during the infamous
Floods in January 2011. This emotionally
charged documentary with live musical
accompaniment was presented at The
Brisbane Festival, Under the Radar
program at the Metro Arts Studio.

The Quadratic Contingency, a cinematic improvisational
ensemble accompanied the film live,
employing unconventional musical
mediums to represent the distress and on
going struggles many Brisbane citizens
still suffer today.

Flood Plains is a retrospective snapshot
of interviews held by people from all
walks of life and occupations. Featuring
Anna Bligh (former state premier), Andy
Café (Goodna pub owner), Jo-Anne Miller
(state MP for Bundamba), Norah Amath
(Muslim feminist activist), Casey McGee
(water engineer), Dave Andrews (Christian
Community worker) and many more.

Through personal experiences and perspectives, a
level playing field is made between many
who would otherwise have little to do
with each other, as they recount the
tragedies that occurred during the floods
and many of the on going struggles they
continue to endure.

Flood Plains utilizes metaphoric imagery
that reflects the intensity of the trauma
recounted by its interviewees. The
Quadratic Contingency will compliment
this with a soundtrack that will move as
far away from traditional film scoring as
possible.

The Quadratic Contingency is:

James Ball (Piano)
Paul Young (Composer/Drummer)
Sam Vincent (Double Bassist)
Luke Carbon (Clarinetist)
Kyla Matsurra Milla (Violin)
